APEX Map Region: Creating cicle heatmap in relation to size

I am trying to create a map of population density with circles. The size and opacity of the circle correpsonds to the weight of the data.

Can this be accomplished with APEX Map Region?

Here is an example that was created using D3 Map Region by Ronny Weib a while ago
