APEX Login

Hello,
Im new to APEX, just having a go at the moment. Im trying to create security for my application but the Login page which was created automatically with the application does not work. It is a login for my APEX account(?) Is there a way I can modify this to deal with a users table I have created containing usernames and passwords?
