APEX LDAP authentication with Netware NDS LDAP

I have an application in APEX that I am trying to authenticate against a valid user and password in Netware's LDAP NDS directory. Using JXplorer I can authenticate via SSL with the following settings.

Base DN is blank
User name is:

cn=bob,ou=accounting,ou=Austin,o=Texas
Password of course is provided
Using LDAP ver 3
Port 636
Host: NetwareServer1

Using these settings in JXplorer allows me to connect to the Netware container and browse, etc.

I am having a problem trying to duplicate this functionality in APEX using LDAP. I have experimented with the LDAP Tool in APEX and have not had much luck.

Has anyone attempted this and been successful? If so, could you please provide details?
