APEX jquery file upload plug-in

Has anyone looked at adding a jquery plugin to work with the file upload control in APEX? I have seen a nifty looking jquery plugin to allow filtering of the file types uploaded, but am NOT fluent enough yet in plugins to get how to bolt it on yet..

Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated, since the project I am working on needs to filter upload types depending upon a user selection..
