APEX_ITEM officially deprecated, what to use instead?

Pavel_pOct 23 2020

Hello,
I've just read the release notes and found out that this highly useful API is now officially deprecated and will be REMOVED in a future release. So instead of proper styling it will be removed altogether. It was the only option to render something dynamically, which is quite rare, however time of the time it came really handy and also I used it quite often (especially before 5.1 when it became quite unusable because of different styling) in Classic and Interactive reports to render checkboxes, option buttons and editable text fields.
So what are we supposed to use now? I would gladly rewrite some parts of my apps but what to use instead? And please, do not suggest IG as IG is something completely different for different usecases. IG can be considered as a (highly improved) replacement of Tabular Forms but not for cases when something needs to be rendered dynamically.
Thanks a lot
Pavel
