Apex 5.1 Shuttle Problem - Data that contain colons

CB_ITFeb 25 2020 — edited Mar 3 2020

Hi,

We are currently on APEX 5.1 and am using a shuttle field to allow users to select or retrieve multiple values, but these values contain one or more colons (:). The shuttle field requires values to be delimited by a colon (:), which in my opinion is very strange since colon is a very common character used in time, date and other text fields.

e.g. List of start times (HH24:MI:SS)

14:42:01

14:48:42

01:01:51

Shuttle field will show following in session state:

14:42:01:14:48:42:01:01:51

Or other field data: (City: Color)

Sydney: Blue

New York: Red

London: Green

Shuttle field will show following in session state:

Sydney: Blue:New York: Red:London: Green

You cannot distinguish which colon is the delimiter and which forms part of the data/text.

How do we make the shuttle work for data that contain semicolons (:) within the data that we are trying to use? Is there a way to escape these special characters or enclose the text prior to saving/going into session state?

Or can the shuttle be changed so another type delimiter can be used e,g (|) or (^)?

Thanks,

CB
