APEX 5.0 Tree

Oracle APEX Tree Widget

I have found plenty of examples of how to use the APEX 4.x tree widget but not very many that satisfactorily explain the APEX 5 tree widget. I am looking for an example that shows me how I can capture the node selection on the tree and update a report region based on the ID of the node selected. Similar to what is demoed on the APEX demo site (https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=54687:38:110374428037771:::::)

Any helpful pushes in the right direction are welcome.
