Apex 5.0 javascript error TypeError: e.nodeName is undefined jquery-2.1.3.min.js:4:3570

A couple of dynamic actions in our 4.0.2 application do not work in Apex 5.0.

The errors that pop up in the javascript console are:

TypeError: e.nodeName is undefined jquery-2.1.3.min.js:4:3570

Synchronous XMLHttpRequest on the main thread is deprecated because of its detrimental effects to the end user's experience. For more help http://xhr.spec.whatwg.org/ jquery-2.1.3.min.js:4:0

no element found wwv_flow.show:1:1

What do these mean?
