Apex 4.0.1 reinstall/recovery

Andre OlivierAug 31 2011 — edited Aug 31 2011
I have an Oracle XE 10g, Apex 4.0.1 installation, with a fully fledged development within the db.

I suffered a hard drive crash last week, and need to recover my system. My technical support people managed to save the files on my drive, but could only copy them to a new "virgin" drive, which has only the OS (Windows 7 Enterprise) installed on it. Luckily this crash affected my dev environment only (on my laptop) and not the live system which runs on a separate server.

I now need to recreate my Apex environment so that I can continue developing. I have all the original files (oraclexe directory, apex directory, etc.), but need to reinstall the programs.

What is the best way of going about this? Is there a way I can reinstall OracleXE, and then bring the original database in? Similarly, can I reinstall Apex and then copy the original files into the directories? I do not have any dumps of the database, but do have an export of the application.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
