Apache James and Cable Modem
843830Feb 9 2002 — edited Dec 7 2006Hi, I'm trying to set up a mail server for my website so I can start using JavaMail, and I'm having trouble sending outgoing email.
I'm using a cable modem (NTL is my ISP) and I heard that they block SMTP (to prevent home users like me having web sites).
Does anyone know of a workaround to get past this problem - I've heard vague references to changing the port my SMTP server uses to fool NTL.
Thanks
