Anyone know why Windows 2000 won't let me delete slapd keys in the registry?
807573Apr 24 2002 — edited Apr 24 2002I am having problems installing iDS on Windows 2000 server. Every time I install, it gives me these error messages at the end:
- Setup is unable to store configuration data in the LDAP directory
- Unable to create Administration Server configuration
- Could not authenticate ldap connection, "Unknown error"
- Unable to set ACI in Configuration Directory Server
I have a fully qualified domain name (although the server is not a member of a Windows Domain, only a workgroup)...
The only thing I can see that might cause problems are old registry keys from previous failed installations. There are several keys in the registry that are clearly iDS-related, which regedit won't let me delete (even though I've uninstalled iDS and deleted all its leftover files and folders)... When I try to delete them, it gives me the extremely helpful error message "Cannot delete LEGACY_SLAPD-DIR1: Error while deleting key."
Specifically, the keys are:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SLAPD-DIR1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SLAPD-DIR1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SLAPD-DIR1
Any ideas? Or should I just reinstall Win2K?
Thanks,
Jeff
