any known issues with unzip and larger than 2GB zip files?

We have been receiving zip files from our customers lately that are larger than 2 GB (i.e. after zipping).
Neither our gnu versions for solaris 9 nor the solaris 10 version of unzip seems to be able to handle these
files. I found a very old bug (4930181, 2003) but no workaround or mention of a fix. I'm assuming this
is still a problem, but I would have thought there would be a much bigger trail of info about this.
