AMD ATHLON 64 + Oracle 11g + Enterprise Linux ??

I am planning to buy a 2-GB AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 4000+ machine from DELL computers. It will have Windows Vista pre-installed, which I plan to blow away.

I want to install Oracle's new Enterprise Linux and 11g Database on it.

Q:- Which option is best:
1. Install all this myself. OR
2. Use Oracle's new VM server, with pre-installed 11g on it

I am new to all this, so I may not be phrasing the question properly.
