alternative for trunc

Dear all,

10.2.0.4 on Solaris 10

We have 3 queries which is using the below condition

and trunc(time_stamp) < trunc(sysdate);

and the query is taking a lot of time in this steps.. is there any alternative I can use to avoid trunc which should be faster and give me the same output
