Alternate Data Streams Viewer in JAVA?

807588Mar 11 2009 — edited Mar 11 2009
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Alternate Data Streams:

File system forks are traditionally associated with Apple's Hierarchical File System (HFS), but are also available in other file systems. In Microsoft's NTFS they are known as Alternate Data Streams (ADS). On Windows XP a user is able to create Alternate Data Steams associated with files, however the operating system possesses no native tool to allow for the viewing of these streams; thus files can be hidden within ADS.

I am looking to program a tool that will search specified directories for files that have ADS associated with them and that will enumerate the file names of those "invisible" streams. I am aware that source codes exist on the internet which demonstrate how ADS may be enumerated in other languages such as c and c++, however i am looking to program this tool in JAVA and wondered if anyone could give any pointers as to how this might be done or whether it is even possible in JAVA at all? any source codes which could help?

Thanks very much for any info, it is appreciated.
