Alternate boot environments for Veritas and/or Disksuite

807559Apr 20 2004 — edited May 5 2004
This is actually several questions, i guess, but the main question is How do i get the Recovery boot environment that i need to work properly and do it without having to create multiple boot images?

I would like to setup an alternate boot environment that will allow me to boot machines that use DiskSuite, or machines that use Veritas, or machines that do not use any volume management.

Preferably, i would like to have only one boot environment that can handle both.

I also have several implementations of Veritas with a great deal of variety in the way that the rootdisk's contiguous slices and the Veritas volumes are configured. Is there a way to make a boot environment dynamic enough to handle variously configured clients?

Architectures vary from Ultra 10's to V880's; using Veritas, DiskSuite, or no volume management.

I have also had some problems with the drivers being able to be loaded. I have never gotten my recovery boot mode to work with Veritas in any way whatsoever. What am I missing? How do i get the drivers to be loaded?

I have already read the blueprints available for building alternate boot environments, but i have obviously missed something.

Thank you.
