altering a global temporary table

i have a global temporary table which is existing currently
now i want that table to have constraint like
ON COMMIT PRESERVE ROWS

when i put
alter global temporary table
on commit preserve rows
it is telling the error
ORA-01735 - INVALID ALTER TABLE OPTION
can any one help
