alter table shrink space takes long time

I was running "alter table shrink space" yesterday morning, it is still running after 24 hours. It seems it is taking a very long time.

Questions:

1. Are there any way to monitor the statement to see how much it ihas done?

2. If I cancel the statment in the middle, will the table got crashed?
