"Allow populate queries by default" option in Database Object

853998Apr 8 2011 — edited Apr 8 2011
Hi All,

i am bit confused with what actually the option "Allow Populate Queries by default" option, i checked with bookshelf it says:
When checked, allows everyone to execute POPULATE SQL. If you want most but not all users to be able to execute POPULATE SQL, check this option and then limit queries for specific users or groups. For more information about limiting queries

after further research, i discovered that in order to run Direct database requests from answers interface, we need to check this option, then i am confused wht thenext option: "Allow Database requests by default" is given...

However, i tried to practice with both enabled, restarted all the services and tried to run a simple SQL in direct database requests "SELECT * FROM CUSTOMERS",
I am able to get column definitions, but when i hit the results tab it says:

View Display Error

Error generating view. You don't currently have the necessary privileges to execute Direct Database Requests.
Error Details
Error Codes: OAMP2OPY:Q4NU7XSN
Invalid Handle Of 'class saw::NQWebView ' Exception*

kindly clarify my confusion...

thanks,
Sree
