Alert Log Size

541834Jan 29 2009 — edited Jan 29 2009
I am knew to a group and they have asked me to look at why the alert log will not grow past 150 bytes, so basicall 6 or 7 lines worth. Is there a way to set a limit on the size of the alert log file? The database is hosted on an NetApp filer and that is where the alert log is as well and I have talked to the NetApp admin and he says it is an Oracle setting. Here is an output from my alert log:

Completed: ALTER DATABASE OPEN
turned off (no async multimaster replication found)

)'...
ncms/control02.ctl, /data/XXX/oradata/XXX/control03.ctl

When something is written to the log file this is all you can see the very last 6 lines or so of the file.

Any help would be appreciated as I have never seen this before, thanks in advance!
