After the Copy,folder size problem

aaaaaDec 8 2008 — edited Dec 22 2008
Hello all;

I have wierd problem, maybe someone has same problem before or someone can lead me...

The issue is:

I wanna take copy of one folder. The folder name is LIVE size is 79GB. This folder has 2 subfolder. Those are:

Folder X and size is 34 Gb
Folder Y and size 45 Gb

so total size of LIVE is 79 GB

I copy this folder by cp folder and give name LIVEBACKUP. My command is

root@serverx> cp -r /u01/LIVE /u02/LIVEBACKUP

when this command ended, i check size of LIVEBACKUP folder

root@serverx> du -hs /u02/LIVEBACKUP
root@serverx> 77 GB

root@serverx> du -hs /u01/LIVE
root@serverx>79 GB

soo i checked subfolder and i have this status:

Folder X (UNDER LIVEBACKUP) and size is 34 Gb ( same size as LIVE FOLDER)
Folder Y (UNDER LIVEBACKUP) and size 44 Gb ( Different size from LIVE folder)

But the intersting thing is size of LIVEBACKUP 77 GB but subfolder size's total is 78GB!!!!

i use this command

root@serverx> diff -r /u01/LIVE /u02/LIVEBACKUP

it doesnt return anything! After 45 min...

anyone has idea? This backup is succed or not?

Thanks
Helios
