Advice migrating from 9i to 10g

426916Aug 4 2004 — edited Aug 5 2004
We currently have an Oracle 9i (9.2) database and want to migrate to 10g on a completely different server. Both boxes are x86 based, but the new 10g server is much faster, blah blah...

It seems that it's pretty easy to upgrade 9i to 10g if you're staying on the same server, but what strategy should i pursue for moving to a completely new box? Should I upgrade the 9i box to 10g first and then somehow copy the data over?

I've checked the Oracle documentation page, but can't seem to find any papers on migration, although I've read mention of them throughout this forum. Maybe someone could provide me with a couple links?

Thanks for any help/advice.
