Advanced Style: null attribute does not effect display of default style

I have a problem with Geometry Themes using advanced collection styles:

The value of the specified attribute is null. In this case I expect MV to choose the default rendering style. In fact the color of the first collection bucket is displayed.

In MapBuilder preview, the default color is shown as expected.

Is this a bug or do I have wrong expectiations about MV behaviour?

I use MapViewer 19.1.0
