adrci does not remove trace files from operating system

As seen below, I have set SHORTP_POLICY to 2 hours and LONGP_POLICY to 4 hrs. But still the the trace file exits in the operating system.
As per this link http://gavinsoorma.com/2010/09/purging-trace-and-dump-files-with-11g-adrci/ ,MMON process should have cleared the trace file from the operating system.
Do I need to use "purge -age 300 -type TRACE" to purge the files even though the SHORTP_POLICY & LONGP_POLICY parameters are set.
