ADR

Sorry new to 11g and I'm a bit confused with ADR and how base/home is set with relation to the listener.

if I do:

$> export ORACLE_HOME=<oracle_home>
$> adrci
adrci> show base
ADR base is "/app/ora/admin/<oracle_sid>"
adrci> show home
ADR Homes:
diag/rdbms/oracle_sid/<ORACLE_SID>

Two questions:
1) where is adrci pulling this from the home information from?
2) the listener adr_base is <ORACLE_HOME>/network/log - I have to manually run "set home=<ORACLE_HOME>/network/log" before I can purge commands to remove old listerner_logs.xml etc. Why is this not registered and displayed when I do show homes?
