Adjusting Menubar height and Spacing between tabs

I'm trying to increase the height of menu bar by using the below CSS . It is increasing but it is getting added to the existing bar (Yellow color below). How to increase the height of menubar without this extra layer?

.t-Header-nav {

height: 55px;

}

Also i want to increase the spacing b/w tabs in this menubar. i want space of 22px b/w tabs. Is there any way to increase this?
