ADF Faces : better support the back button

In the "Oracle® Application Development Framework Developer’s Guide 10g Release 3 (10.1.3.0) B28967-01" I've found this:

"4.6 Best Practices for ADF Faces"
" ... client-side state saving is recommended as it provides better support for failover and the back button ... "

What does "better support for ... the back button" mean here?
