Additional Storage/Memory requirements for adding BI Publisher?
lrp1Jan 23 2013 — edited Jan 25 2013Hello, all. I'm running an OEM 12.1.0.2.0 (about to try applying the recently released 12.1.0.2.1 PSU , patch 14840279) inside a Solaris 10 x86_64 zone. It's been given about 12-16GB of memory for a small deployment. I have a 11.2.0.3 Oracle Database repository and the OEM 12cR2 running on the same box. Together, that eats up.
Looking at OEM12c's reporting feature, they still do let us use Information Publisher, but clearly state in the documents (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e24473/information_publisher.htm#BGBGDBCG) that new development is DEPRECATED. I'm worried about how to develop reports now.. I assume we all have to go to a heavyweight Oracle BI Publisher solution now. My question is, how much heavier is it? I'm a DBA and haven't had much experience running middleware.
I've been looking at the BI Publisher docs (Oracle® Fusion Middleware Installation Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence
11g Release 1 (11.1.1) - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/bi.1111/e10539/c3_requrmnts.htm ) requirements section, but it points me to the main Oracle Fusion Middleware download section.
I navigate that to eventually land on the Oracle® Fusion Middleware System Requirements and Specifications for Oracle Forms and Reports 11g Release 2 (11.1.2) ( http://docs.oracle.com/html/E25460_01/r2_fr_requirements.htm ).
I infer that I require 2GB physical memory and 4GB memory+swap for my Solaris installation (UNIX).
Does anybody know if that 2GB is for a brand new install, or whether I could get away with less if I already had an OEM installation? We had never sized our build to accommodate DB + OEM + agent + BI.
