Adding fields to an existing block based on a view

430018Sep 23 2004 — edited Jul 29 2009
As you can tell from the nature of the question, I'm a newbie to forms 6.0 so please be gentle. I'd even appreciate it if your answer simply sends me to the correct section of the correct manual.

Here's my problem. I have a data block based on a view. I recently had to add 5 fields to the view. Using the layout editor, I manually added (the wizard won't work on a block like this) the five fields taking care to emulate the properties of other similar fields and I made sure that the item names were the same as the view table column names.

When I try to add or modify existing records, the new fields are not included in the table update or insert and the value entered remains there when moving to other records. Further, these fields do not 'clear' after adding a record.

Please, please don't tell me that the product is so primitive that I have to rebuild the entire screen to make this work.

Thanks in advance for any help or guidance you can offer. I have tried reading the on-line help and documentation to no avail.

Ron
