Adding disks to diskgroup - first MEMBER then CANDIDATE

Blues BreakerJan 21 2011 — edited Jan 21 2011
Greetings -

I've already opened an SR on this issue but often times I get better advise here.

I asked my SA to add disks to an existing diskgroup. I noticed in ASMCA that at one point they
became members of the diskgroup. When I asked him to give me more and - by mistake - he
dropped the recently added disks and I observed in ASMCA that they were now candidate disks.

We cannot mount this diskgroup and I cannot add to this diskgroup.

Trying to mount : alter diskgroup ASMDATA mount;
ORA-15032 : not all alterations performed
ORA-15040 : diskgroup is incomplete
ORA-15042 : ASM disk "5" is missing from group number "2"
ORA-15042 : ASM disk "4" is missing from group number "2"

Trying to add to the diskgroup:
ORA-15032: not all alterations performed.
ORA-15001: diskgroup "ASMDATA" does not exist or is not mounted.

Any ideas or solutions 'gratefully' received,

Yes - I do have a full backup on another diskgroup.

Brian
