ActiveX/COM integration ...

On Windows activex/com components are quite common. They are quite powerfull, stable and wide ranging.
The opportunity to leverage such existing activex/com components is huge.
Many man-years have gone into the development of these activex/com components. e.g IE is supposedly made up of approx 6 com components.
Many components of the MSOffice, Video Players, 3D renderers are "com" components.

Can the Product Managers of JavaFX please explain their strategy to leverage this vast library of "com" components for JavaFX ?.

I feel Java's lack of a viable activex/com integration played a role in it's "failure" on the desktop.

JavaFX has an opportunity to address this.

Cheers ...
