Active Desktop

When making a web page up and using as an active desktop.with Windows XP Pro with Java vers 5.0
I have one applet running & allWebmenu structure,
plus a java HTML slide show.
The page runs fine for a short while but then I loose all icons programs & task bar.
When using with Windows 2000pro with Microsoft VM installed, everything is ok.
Any help please.
