Active Data Guard Question

I have been trying to find some good documentation concerning Active Data Guard configuration, but have not been successful. My question is this. We have an Active Data Guard option license, and am wondering if we need to have supplemental logging enabled when using Active Data Guard on a physical standby database setup?

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated
