Accessing Apex activity logs

We need to create a report on certain activity logs that are maintained by the system. In particular one of the application change logs. Apex displays them in the admin console, however we need more control and the ability to download the data, search etc.

Any ideas on where to find a complete list and a sample query? I could not find information in the forums or docs, however I could have easily missed it.
