Access from Oracle Database to other systems for ad-hoc queries

Hello Experts,

I need to do connection between oracle database and another database (whether it is Netezza, MS SQL Server or DB2). The main scenario in the usage is that queries will be executed on Oracle database (11.2.0.4) retrieving or joining few tables from another database to combine results retrieved finaally for user.

I know that this can be accomplished by using Oracle Gateway's configuration for heterogenous services but it can bring some problems with performance and data consistency. Considering my daubts can you suggest another way or ways?
