about opening connection to oracle on 64 bit machine

I am totally lost on how can i connect to oracle .
The system configuration is :
64 bit Operating system with windows xp
Most my application like vb6,autocad are 32 bit application.I have download 64 bit oracle client.I have a dll which is build on a 32 bit software ie vb6.Using thie dll i am trying to open oracle connection and everytime open it fails.so i went and download 32 bit Microsoft windows oracle client 11g and added my tnsnames.oro files in the one too.But everytime i run my program which is a 32 bit to call this dll it fail to make connection to oracle.
Please help me out...................................................
Desperate to get some solution.
