a definitive list of Java books?

hello everyone

i am completely new to Java and also relatively new to OOP too but I do have a lot of former C and COBOL programming experience, at all levels.

I am now trying to learn Java, from basic desktop apps to enterprise applications that may run on web-app-servers and even run "in the cloud".

So I have to start somewhere......

My question is:

is there a list of definitive Java books that every Java programmer should have or should read?

for example for C programmers there is K&R book. Is there a "must read" Java book list?
