9iAS release 2 Discoverer Viewer (9.0.2.39.02) on W2K

We've currently installed this on a "fresh" machine (nothing else installed). We now want to connect to an existing Discoverer EUL on an Apps 11.0.3 (on an 8.0.6/8.1.7 server partitioned DB) system. This EUL is currently accessed through Discoverer 4.1.41 (Desktop & Admin edition) - no probs.
Using Discoverer Viewer (or Plus), though, we get the error "Authentication Failed. (You do not have access to any End User Layer tables)".
MetaLink docs do not help too much (seems like we're doing something quite out of the ordinary).
