9i Oracle Management Server

545199Nov 10 2006 — edited Nov 10 2006
Hi All,

Very new to Oracle. I have a 9i database on a Sun 9 O/S. My Linux is OK but my Sun sucks.

So I want to administer the DB via Enterprise Manager. Connecting to the DB on my XP laptop is OK via Local, but when I try to administer "Backups" in EM, I get the message that I must be connected to a OMS.

I have installed W2K Pro on another machine that I would like to use as my OMS. I have downloaded the 9i DB software and chose the Management Application Suite during install and set up a "repository" during that process on my "TRAINDB". I successfully log into the DB on the SUN system during the install, but when I open up Enterprise Manager and connect to the OMS, I do not see that database.

What am I missing? If the install could communicate with the DB and create a repository and user id/password on that DB, why doesn't the DB show in my EM console?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Travis
