8i/9i: 'connect as internal', etc.
Okay, I've got the following issue (I've gotten info on it that is good online; but I'm a little intimidated to go further):
I've got this Oracle DBA 'Complete Video Course' & Interactive Workbook. Overall, I like it & it's gotten me further than Oracle 8i: A Beginner's Guide, etc. Only thing is its written for versions 8i, 8.0, etc. & not 9i. I've of course got 9i installed (on Windows 2000).
I've got one file 'create*_01.sql' & the other is 'create*_02.sql'. In these files I've got the identical line: "CONNECT internal/oracle". I get the impression that instead of this it ought to be "connect / as sysdba" (I got this off http://appsdba.omp.net/o91_info.htm) for 9i. Is it okay, i.e., is it good enough if I overwrite the original line in those files with the new one as indicated, or not?
I'm new to Oracle; but I get the feeling that learning 9i by going off of info that focuses largely & in general only on 8i is an issue in itself! I'd be grateful for any info on this (I'll be optimistic); or links to a good overview that is going to include the info I need on this one issue. Thanks,
Noel Whelan
