516MB memory limit for Enterprise Linux 5 in Parallels VM?

William RobertsonAug 16 2007 — edited Aug 21 2008
I've been trying to install Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 in a VM using Parallels Desktop for Mac. The idea is to install Oracle 11g in it, which requires 1GM of RAM according to the installation guide. However, if I give the VM any more than 516MB it fails to boot, giving Kernel panic - not syncing: Fatal exception (screenshot). I hit exactly the same thing in CentOS 5.

Any suggestions?

I suspect this is related to Parallels as I don't see anyone else reporting this (I'll update this thread if I get any suggestions from Parallels forums/tech support).
