5.1p3 replication works but no data flows

I have a master-slave pair where I had to reinitialize replication. I've got it so replication appears to work. I can reinitailize the slave. Logs show that the master is connecting. The console shows that updates happen. But no changes flow. I believe I've followed all the instructions. Any ideas?
