3 versions of sqldeveloper ".exe" application - what's the difference?

JacobatTheNewSchoolJun 6 2012 — edited Jun 7 2012
Hi,

Can someone explain the different purposes of the "3" sqldeveloper.exe copies? Or, point me to a link that explains when-to/when-not-to use each one?

In the past I've always used the one delivered in the top most folder sqldevloper\sqldeveloper.exe

I've recently come to learn that there is also:
sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe
sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloperW.exe

I now understand that this one
sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.exe

opens a cmd window simultaneously that can be used for some sort of "error-handling" that can be shared here.

Is it wrong to run this version every time (so I'm prepared if the application hangs)? Or, should I only fire it up to re-create an issue?
And what is the one with the "W" in its name for?

I'm on a Windows 7 64 bit OS, but using the 32 bit version of 3.1 build 07.42. I usually query against an Oracle 11gR1 DB. Thanks in advance.
