11gR1 - Need to load client sw? Can a 6i Forms program access 11gR1?
704224Jun 8 2011 — edited Jun 14 2011I downloaded and installed Oracle database v 11gR1 and Oracle Enterprise Manager. Both are working fine both on the database server and a test client workstation. I have not been able to get my Forms 6i executables to access the 11g database nor can I get sql*plus to connect to the 11g database from a client. On the client, I edited tnsnames.ora using the same format as my 9i databases.
As a newbie, I have a couple of questions relgarding 11g:
1. Do I need to load additional software on the client?
2. Can a Forms 6i executable access the 11g database?
3. Is there missing step I need to do outside of editing the tnsnames.ora file?
