11g XE on Linux 64

Hello,

I am trying to install 11g (11.2.0) express edition onto openSuse Linux 12.2.

When I try to run the, '/etc/inti.d/oracle-xe', with the configure option, it prompts for port numbers and passwords, and then fails and suggest I review the log files, under, 'u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/config/log'.

-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 589 Mar 2 15:34 CloneRmanRestore.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 2517 Mar 2 15:34 cloneDBCreation.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 1317 Mar 2 15:34 postScripts.log
-rw-r--r-- 1 oracle dba 891 Mar 2 15:34 postDBCreation.log

They all indicate, ORA-01034 ORACLE not available. Running the command, '/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/xe/config/scripts/startdb.sh' does not show any errror messages, nor doe s it start any oracle processes either.

Can someone please guide me on this ?

Thanks

Russell
