10g AS Load Balancing

489674Feb 9 2006 — edited Jun 29 2007
Hi,

We are planning to use 10g AS as the application Server for one of our process intensive applications, because of the load we would like to use 2 servers in load balancing mode.

I have heard that in 10g AS one can achiev load balancing without any need for external load balancing h/w, Is is true?

If its possible, then I guess it would be something like this:
1. I would Install 10g AS on both my servers.
2. One would be configured as Primary & second as Secondary.

Now I had the following doubts:
1. Will the request be directed only to the primary server, and based on the load it would redirect to secondary as and when required.
2. If the secondary server fails, will the primary still be able to function?
3. If the primary fails, how can the secondary be configured to take the role of primary?

Would appreciate if someone could also provide some documentation if available on this.

Thanking you

Regards

Nabeel
