Hi,

Quite new in OBIEE and I need help regarding Pivot.

I need to insert computed columns in my pivot. To best explain what i need, please see the illustration below

Fig1 - This is how the current pivot looks like. It displays Bud, Exp and Balance by Dept for 3 years.

............................2006.....................2007......................2008........
....................Bud....Exp....Bal.....Bud....Exp....Bal......Bud.....Exp.....Bal
Dept A..........100.....50.....50.....150....50.....100.....200.....100.....100
Dept B..........200.....25.....175....210....60.....150.....220.....50......170
Dept C..........150.....80.....70......200....80.....120.....150.....90......160

Fig2 - Now, I would like to get the variance of Budget and Expenditure between two years ( 2007 vs 2006 and 2008 vs 2007). Please see below.

----------------------2006------------------------------------------------2007---------------------------------------------2008------------
--------------Bud----Exp----Bal---07vs06----*07vs06*----Bud----Exp----Bal----08vs07----08vs07----Bud----Exp----Bal
---------------------------------------BudVar----*ExpVar*-------------------------------BudVar----ExpVar------------------------------
Dept A---100-----50-----50-----50%-------0%----------150------50----100---33%------100%------200----100----100
Dept B---200-----25-----175----5%--------140%-------210-----60-----150---5%--------17%-------220----50------170
Dept C---150-----80-----70-----33%-------0%-----------200-----80-----120---25%------13%-------150----90------160

Now, how do I insert these computed columns in Pivot?

Thank you in advance for your help.

If you just want a quick win in Answers: In the pivot table, click on the icon next to your year dimension member and choose "New Calculated Item". Just so you see quick results and get the approach, create a formula like "2007 - 2006". Lateron, you need to modify that opf course for variables if you opt to keep it in Answers.

Better: create the calculations in the repository. You have them in one place and can reuse them easily etc. etc.

Nice to hear but keep in mind, that the repository is the place you should preferably do these things.
