It was just a question to Dimitri concerning his APEX Shared Components presentation that he is preparing to present at Kaleidoscope in Daytona. Here is the link to the thread anyway...

I just received a status report on registrations for the Seriously Practical APEXposed! 2007 Conference June 18 and 19, presented during the first two days of ODTUG Kaleidoscope 2007. There are now only a limited number of openings remaining in both the Experienced and Novice tracks. If you're considering attending, and haven't registered yet, don't take the chance of waiting and possibly missing some world class, hands-on training from some of the world class experts presenting.

In addition, there are only a few days left for you to receive the advanced rates for the regular ODTUG Kaleidoscope Conference admission, which will have some additional ApEx presentations available, along with other technical sessions.

I hope to see everyone in Daytona Beach!

Thanks,

Mike Riley

So everybody going to ODTUG and would like to meet other APEX lovers, don't hesitate.

Jess,

APEXposed is ODTUG's second attempt at a "Seriously Practical" conference (with OPP in San Mateo, CA in late February being the first). OPP (for PL/SQL developers) was praised highly by all attendees, and APEXposed hopes to deliver the same for Application Express developers. ODTUG will be monitoring the interest, satisfaction level and success of this "Seriously Practical" conference closely.

I hope you're able to attend the event in Daytona Beach next month!

Thanks,

Mike Riley

Mike,

I would love to go to the conference but I highly doubt my company would send me. My co worker and I are the ApEx creaters for our company. We get the basics but there are things we don't understand with the processes, writing the SQL for it and so on. I'm hoping we will be able to take some training courses soon. Thank god for this forum... we use it a lot!!!!

Jess,

That's a shame...the Application Express training is very reasonably priced for a two day event, and the cost of accomodations (and airfare) seems reasonable as well. The regular conference also has quite a number of Application Express sessions (not during the two days of the training). All in all, it is shaping up to be a tremendous opportunity to learn from many of the experts (and peers) willing to share their knowledge and experiences.

Follow this link to give your employer a sample justification letter for attending the conference (you could change it around a little if you're only interested in the APEXposed conference and not Kaleidoscope:

Thank you, I'll see what I can do. I've talked to my co-worker and we both agree that this would be beneficial.

Jess,

I'll try to be as non-commercial as I can with this statement :) There are several groups that provide outstanding training on Apex. You can find many of them on the Apex Community page.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/apex_community.html

Many provide both on-site and off-site training. If your company does not want to send you to training, you might be able to bring someone in.

I know a couple people who wanted to go to this training, but could not. They would go to it if it were offered again.

Hi Mike,

It's not the same training and not in the US ;-) But we at AE are also organizing the "European APEX Training Days" in September. If there're some people like me, who like to "cross borders", you find more information on: http://eurotraining.apex-evangelists.com

If I don't see you in Europe, I hope to see you in the States!

Thanks,
Dimitri

So, ladies and gentlemen, are we ready for the Daytona meetup event?

Anyone from the Oracle Apex team joining the event?

Bye,

Probably most go to Oracle Open World because the entrance fee is a little lower for them ;) Where I work if we get training we can usually only get one conference a year. So the only way to go to additional conferences is to do a presentation at the conference.

Those of you who are looking to attend (and spend a few days in Daytona), be sure to bring umbrellas as well as sunglasses!
